Space Eight, Safety for Everyone

Drivers in the market for an eight-seater SUV already have some expectations for that vehicle. Obviously, it needs to be safe, and it should provide plenty of room for passengers and their cargo. It should also be able to keep all occupants engaged and entertained over long trips. Lasting comfort is essential, and the onboard technology should be practical and easy to use.

Honda's three-row Pilot promises all this and more. The Pilot sports the largest frame of any Honda crossover, and its roomy cabin can seat both adults and children comfortably on any row. Its capable powertrain, confident handling, and impressive towing ability make it a dynamic vehicle for vacations and getaways with friends and family.

History of the Honda Pilot

Primarily designed to suit the needs of North American drivers, the Pilot was introduced in 2003, just as the U.S. demand for SUVS was starting to rise. Honda's new entry to the midsize SUV segment was received with enthusiastic interest, as drivers delighted in the spacious interior and generous storage space. The initial model was manufactured at Honda's plant in Lincoln, Alabama, built on the same platform as the Odyssey and Accord. It was originally equipped with four-wheel drive.

In 2006, Honda updated the Pilot's exterior and added new safety features. The SUV also released with a two-wheel drive version. Three years later, the Pilot was entirey redesigned, now with a bigger body and even more safety and infotainment features. Honda continued to explore new improvements across their lineup, and debuted the Pilot's third generation in 2016. The latest versions come with a modern crossover design and a variety of in-demand amenities, reinforcing the manufacturer's dedication to staying ahead of the industry curve.
